Our opinion is that traditional medicine is challenged in its treatment of peripheral neuropathy. They do a pretty good job of diagnosing it and naming it BUT Allopathic medicine (traditional medicine) just does not have a good answer for peripheral neuropathy. The medical approach is treat the symptoms with drugs, many of which have side effects as severe as the neuropathy it self.  Listen no one wants to take one more pill than is necessary especially if the pill does not cure anything and has lots of side effects. We've all seen the TV commercials and head the side effects. Many patients report not being able to tolerate or function on the medications. Europe discovered a better way to treat diabetic neuropathy.

Peripheral Neuropathy Treatment Huntsville AL

Treat your (PN) Peripheral Neuropathy Now

Peripheral neuropathy is not a single cause disease. But rather Its a general term for a series of disorders that have similar symptoms. Peripheral neuropathy is a disorder that results from damage to the peripheral nervous system and peripheral nerves—the motor, sensory and autonomic nerves that connect the spinal cord to muscles, skin and internal organs.  It usually affects the hands and feet, causing weakness, numbness, tingling and pain.  Peripheral neuropathy’s course is variable; it can come and go, slowly progressing over many years, or it can become severe and debilitating.  However, if diagnosed early, peripheral neuropathy can often be treated and often controlled.

Peripheral neuropathy is common. It is estimated that upwards of 20 million Americans suffer from this disease. It can occur at any age, but is more common among older adults. A l999 survey found that 8-9% of Medicare recipients have peripheral neuropathy as their primary or secondary diagnosis.  The annual cost to Medicare exceeds $3.5 billion. Peripheral neuropathy has always been present, but has not received much attention. Its extent and importance have not yet been adequately recognized.  It is apt to be misdiagnosed, or thought to be merely a side effect of another disease like diabetes or cancer or kidney failure.  The development of new therapies has unfortunately been slow and under funded.

There are many causes of neuropathy.  Approximately 30% of neuropathies are “idiopathic,” or of an unknown cause. In another 30% of cases, the cause is diabetes. Other neuropathy causes include autoimmune disorders, tumors, heredity, nutritional imbalances, infections or toxins.

Most types of peripheral neuropathy can be treated. Some with great success. Some types of peripheral neuropathy can be cured, however, most cannot.  So for now, we need to treat try to lessen the symptoms and understand that this nerve disease is progressive and doing nothing only allows it to worsen. All treatment must have two axis. First treatment is directed at treating the underlying cause of the disease, if possible. Next we MUST treat the damaged nerves with the goal of improving the symptoms. The challenge is that there are more than 100 known types of peripheral neuropathy, each with its own development pattern and prognosis.

About 15-20 years ago European Universities and medical schools in Italy, France, Spain, Germany and England started studying Lasers and light therapy for the treatment of nerve pain disorders such as diabetic neuropathy. European Universities, and medical schools are producing study after study on Lasers and light therapy. In fact even the Nobel prize was awarded for the study of light therapy. In Europe, Laser therapy is an everyday treatment with many clinics not offering drug therapy to their patients until Laser or light therapy is tried. Here in the United States, we were slow to join in as much of our research is funded and pushed by the pharmaceutical companies. Harvard University in the United States seems to be pushing the envelope to study lasers and light therapy. NASA even joined in the studies. NASA did a study on light therapy right here at Marshal Space Flight Center Huntsville and what did they think of light therapy: NASA Light Technology Successfully Reduces Cancer Patients Painful Side Effects from Radiation and Chemotherapy. It's exciting to see the spinoffs from NASA's science and technology initiatives continually improve the quality of life for people here on Earth."  The US military was next with the US Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines using laser therapy to help our warfighters heal faster. University medical center hospitals, and doctors all over the country are embracing laser and light therapy in pain control, treat nerve damage, musculoskeletal problems, joint problems and even wound healing. Now you can experience it too at the Laser Pain Center Huntsville where we offer diabetic neuropathy treatment Huntsville AL.

The  Laser Pain Center Huntsville is the home of Cutting Edge MLS Robotic Laser technology here in Huntsville and the Tennessee Valley. Our Clinic is proud to be on the medical technology forefront by offering FDA approved MLS Laser Therapy. We have invested in what we believe is the very best Laser technology available in the US in our quest to offer you the finest in health care and laser pain therapy. We offer a Free* No Cost consultation/meeting with our doctors for you to discuss your problems and our solutions. MLS means Multi Laser System, a patented way to have multiple lasers at different wavelengths treating you at the same time. Our lasers are also robotic which means that the robotic laser, with direct control by the doctor, can apply the laser light much more precisely than the doctor could by hand. All you have to do is call us for a Free* Consultation/meeting. Lasers in the United States are regulated by the FDA. In the US there are four classes of lasers: Class I, Class II, Class III, and the strongest Class IV. Our Cutting Edge MLS Robotic Laser is a Class IV, 25 watt peak power laser. That is important to you as you want the laser light to be able to penetrate, say the leg, all the way to the nerve being treated. Also that means a shorter treatment time as we can reach the therapeutic dose more rapidly. These lasers are from ASA in Italy, one of the largest medical laser manufacturers in the world currently in 50 countries on 5 continents. Researched and proven protocols for treating neuropathy with Cutting Edge MLS lasers. Patients around the world have been successfully treated with neuropathy using the Cutting Edge MLS Neuropathy protocols. If you or a loved one has neuropathy you should be next. Waiting is not an option as your neuropathy only gets worse. We now offer neuropathy treatment Huntsville AL. Results vary but we have been impressed by the results of the LAR protocol on peripheral neuropathy.

All patients start with a Free* Consultation/Meeting at the Laser Pain Center Huntsville. All you have to to is fill out the form below OR call our clinic at 1-800 Why Hurt and make an appointment for a Free consultation. This consultation/meeting is a time for us to talk about your condition and specific symptoms and our possible treatments. At your consultation we complete your Neuropathy Care Profile which is your to keep. If you choose to go forward then at your next appointment we start with the History and Examination. The Examination includes neurological test, orthopedic test, muscle test, range of motion test, balance test, blood pressure test, blood O2 levels and perfusion levels and more. We then complete the Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument (MNSI) along with (SWM) monofiliment test and (VPT) vibration perception threshold test. By doing these test we now have an objective base line to compare future results against. Some patients are then sent for NCV testing depending on findings.

Next comes the ROF- Report of Findings: This is where our doctors sit with you and go over our findings from all our exams and testing. We then make recommendations for treatment of your peripheral neuropathy. In our examination testing we find about +-20% of patients have permanent nerve damage. or untreatable conditions and are not candidates for Laser treatment and the LAR Protocol. To them we say GOD's Blessings. We can't help you. Your nerves are just too far gone to try to bring back. For the rest we recommend that care start immediately as time is critical. The longer you wait the worse your neuropathy can get. We then go over the financial matters as Laser therapy is so new it's not covered by Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, or any other state or federal major medical health insurance.

Cutting Edge MLS Laser Treatments: We recommend a 12 visit trial of Cutting Edge MLS Laser therapy for treatment of your peripheral neuropathy. In addition to the Cutting Edge MLS Laser you will also receive Anodyne therapy to treat the vascular component and ReBuilder therapy (either at home or our clinic) to reset the nerves. Together these make up the LAR - Laser- Anodyne - ReBuilder Protocol. We will also recommend some supplements which can be purchased at most any health food store.  After 12 visits of care we repeat the objective findings from the examination and see if real progress has been made. If after 12 visits improvement is made, as is the case in most patients, then we recommend an additional 12 visit of continuing treatment of your peripheral neuropathy. If no progress has been made after 12 visits then we recommend stopping care. Results Vary and nothing works for everyone but the results we see everyday are simply amazing.

Maintenance: The case can be made for some maintenance care. We tell patients that they are in charge of their maintenance care. Remember Neuropathy is a progressive disorder meaning it gets worse with time. The nerves that are better after treatment can become worse again over time if the underlying cause is progressive such as kidney disease or thyroid disease.  If any symptoms start to just creak into their life again then immediately come back and lets chase them away in just a few visits. Some patients put themselves on 2 times a month maintenance others 1 time a month and still others 1 time a quarter. Again you drive the bus so to speak, just don't crash it.
